Hi Guys,
Tony (Sluggo) and I are racing this one. My first time, but I'm sure Tony has raced it before. Allan |

Yeah I have ridden it a few times but not since 1989, I use to race with John Woodman, he was a top rider from Albury, rode several Sun Tours and was Victorian Professional Road Champion in 1980, a nice guy, was hit by a car in the early eighties.
Wagga Albury is a good race, a few hills early then flat for miles, with a few hills later in the race, a good hit out for the Coota Annual. Last edited by Sluggo; 31-07-2010 at 08:59 PM. |

I raced this a couple of years ago. It's generally a very fast race. Historically the race is split into 4 bunches, A, B, C, and D - so the bunches tend to be a bit larger than the usual Coota or Wagga handicaps.
The entire race is just about flat as a board, but just before you get to Albury there is a big hill to ride over, sort of half a Stromlo climb and decent. It's all over for the lower grades if they are caught before this hill. When A grade hits the hill they go ballistic and it's every rider for themselves. The decent extends pretty much to the finish, with just a couple of k's of flat after the decent to either stay away or set up for the sprint. One of the hardest things about the race is the logistics at it starts on the outskirts of Wagga and finishes on the outskirts of Albury. And, from Canberra, Wagga is NOT on the way to Albury. Ideally you need someone to drop you off at the start in Wagga, then meet you in Albury. Doing this race IS THE ONLY good excuse for NOT doing the VCC ITT on the same day! |

Either that or the NSW Junior road championships which are on the same weekend!

Pay that - but generally, juniors are not allowed to do opens, so if you're a senior involved in the NSW junior road champs, that IS ALSO A VALID excuse for NOT doing the VCC ITT on the course you LOVE to hate.
