The pointscore has not been forgotten, merely delayed while the idiots on the Hill sit and abuse each other through the debating of legislation along with overseas adventures they are on at the moment.

Details of the pointscore is below. It is following the same system as last years pointscore. The only addition is the awarding of additional bonus points in handicaps for the first finisher in each grade. The details and the pointscore will be placed on the Vikings website soon.

So far the pointscore has consisted of the 2 ITTs and the road race. It is anticipated that the pointscore to date will be published over the weekend.

Can I ask you not to reply to this thread. I want to have this thread to contain only this message and the updated table after each event. If you want to comment or discuss the pointscore - create a new thread.

If there are any questions, send me a PM or an email (mathew.menz@climatechange.gov.au).

Thanks
Matty
(PS can someone make this a sticky subject for me).

Outline of the Series
1. Why? The Aims of the Series
- to encourage greater participation of members at all VCC events
- to increase membership through wide advertising
- to encourage consistency in attendance and performance of members
- to reward members for participation and improvement
- to give something for members to aim towards throughout the year
- and because it’s fun!

2. So how does it work?
- Vikings members will receive points for ALL Vikings races throughout the 2009-10 Weekend Racing Series.

3. The Prize Money
TBC

4. Focus on Participation
As keeping with the philosophy of the club, the series will focus on participation:
- participation points for timed events: e.g. Team Time Trial, Individual Time Trial and Hill Climb.

Rules
1. Points system
HANDICAP RACES
10 points for 1st place, 9 for 2nd, 8 for 3rd etc. down to 2 points for all finishers. DNFs get 1 point. Fastest time male and female gets a bonus of 2 points. First finisher in each grade will get a bonus point.

GRADED SCRATCH RACES AND CRITS
For races with at least ten starters in the grade, 5 points for 1st place in each grade, 4 for 2nd place, 3 for 3rd then 2 for all other finishers.
For races with less than ten starters, 4 points for 1st, 3 for 2nd, 2 for 3rd and all other finishers.
DNFs get 1 point. There is no fastest time bonus.

ALL OTHER ‘TIMED’ EVENTS
For weekend events which are Individual Time Trials, Team Time Trials, and any hill climbs, 3 points for participation. DNFs get 1 point.

2. Marshalls and Race Directors
5 points for all marshalls & 10 points for race directors. If marshalls are parents of juniors, their points can go toward their junior, with one parent per race only accumulating points. Riders/parents can only collect points for race directing/marshalling ONCE during the year.

3. Open Races
Those riders who chose to participate in open events that clash with local races are entitled to claim 2 participation points or 1 point for DNF. To get these points you must inform us of your participation race no later than 5pm of Tuesday the following the week.

4. Grading
By now most racers will have an idea of what grade they should be in. If in doubt, speak with the Race Director. Riders will be moved up (and down) through the grades as they improve with the Race Director’s discretion.

5. Events
The first event in the 2009-10 Weekend Racing Series is the ITT held on 15 November 2009. After this, all Vikings-run events will be included in the Series. See the calendar for details of all upcoming events. (Note: the Supercrits are not included in the pointscore).

6. Questions?
For any queries about your results or updates to this page, please email Matty Menz (email mathew.menz@climatechange.gov.au) who is keeping this page and the results updated.

Updated pointscore.

For the guys, Mark Stevenson is leading on 30 points. Etienne Blumstein-Jones, Simon Claringbold and Ross McPherson next all on 27 points.

For the girls, Lee Sheather and Lyn Vasudeva lead on 24 points. Vanessa Essam is next on 21.

If there is anybody who wants to look after the pointscore let me know. I am struggling to manage this with everything that is going on, primarily work and it is only going to get worse with the election this year.
