Thanks to the Race Director: Vanessa Essam, 48 Competitors, and 4 Marshals performing essential duties:

John Henderson,

Meredith Hutchison,

Chris Knezevic,

Jamie Young.

It was great to see almost 50 riders coming out to brave the dodgy weather conditions this morning to do the last road race before Xmas! Well done to all for completing in challenging weather conditions - good safe racing :)

In the end all grades did 1 lap, due to the threatening weather conditions, A/B opted for just 1 lap (sorry to those who came out wanting 2) & what a quick lap it was!

We were caught off guard with A returning earlier then expected, Michael Tolhurst completed the loop in just over 56mins. This means the return trip was just as fast as the outward trip - good tail wind!

See below for times & placings. Please let me know if you think we got anything wrong.

Don't forget the TT on in 2wks - Sunday 13/12 it will be an 8am start (to avoid the heat which didn't exist today:)

Thanks guys and V. Especially Jamie for dealing with the mad car driver. It was a really well run race.

Thanks to all organisers - well done, nice and relaxed and you managed to stop it raining until everyone was safely home!!
On the results, Steven Callahan started with E grade and finished somewhere in front of me.

Oliver, do you want to move up to D grade or stay in E for a couple more?

Thanks to RD, and all marshalls,.... it was a good race. Well the Cherry has been popped for my first weekend road race, and could think of no better way to do it. I was really nervous as I was expecting the sort of speed that exists on the Crit track, but to my relief, it was an awsome ride out and back, thanks to every one,.... :)

Great race today - good to see a strong contingent of Vikings riders out - it was a blast sharing a pace line with Vikings Chris and Simon D, esp after we detached the riders who were just sitting on - or caught out of position (sorry Dan).

From the results I would suggest:
1) We recommend to the CCC handicapper that Carl Fellows and Stephen Blackburn get promoted to riding Road A grade;
2) Alas, my A grade days have past - I think I should continue to move it and shake it with the riders in B grade, but actually start in B grade from now on.

No probs - done. Crits too?

Thanks guys and V. Especially Jamie for dealing with the mad car driver. It was a really well run race.

That guy was certifiable. He stopped right at the turnaround so I hurried him up the road, and he proceeded to unleash the fury. In between multiple f-bombs he asked me "What sort of Circus I was running here", it was only a miracle that stopped me replying "If i was running a circus, you'd be the main attraction freak!". Anyhow, there was no talking to this bloke so I just pulled out the phone and took a photo of his license. He told me he was going to go get his tractor - so I just told him I had his details, no wuckers go get his tractor (i'm pretty most the bunches could outrun a tractor, and the rest could get a wicked draft off it anyway)

reported him this morning - just told the police that he went off his nana and to log a complaint against the plates, at least that way if he does come back with his tractor one day the Po-Po will see he has a pattern of behaviour.

Many thanks to A and B for only doing one lap!

He told me he was going to go get his tractor -

Comic brilliance! I'm going to use that line next time someone gets on my nerves. "You'd better shuddup or I'm getting the tractor."

He had a Kelpie in the passenger seat - and it's eyes were just screaming "Don't make him angry, you won't like him when he's angry!"

Crits as well.

Road grade updated and I've emailed Jeremy with yours and a couple of crit grade changes for next week.

You might not have been at the front of A grade, but you were still driving the pace for the B grade riders yesterday!

Did he say anything inteligible? IE "Bikes all over the road", "bikes shouldnt be allowed on the road", "I had to wait at least 2 seconds", "I had to brake", "I could not speed like a dangerous idiot on a country road", "My dog was in my face then you guys were on the road, startled the cr@p out of me".

"I live in the bush because I cant tolerate other humans" ->

My favorite as it applies to the Farm/Hobby Farm owner on Old Federal Highway. The Old Fed Road from the tulip farm to the Gravel pit, is this farmers personal drive way and gets p!ssed off if ANY bikes are on the road when he/she is going to/from their farm.

There was one common word throughout the whole conversation which I understood - but there wasn't much sense coming out of him. Fact is, I was walking over to thank him for his patience before he went off the reservation.

It could have been the Ginga Mo i'm currently sporting, it does have that effect on some people.

He rolled away pretty quickly as I got the phone* out
