SuperCrit Thursday
Brought to you by www.dbraustralia.com.au

Summer will be hotting up as the SuperCrit Thursdays make a return to Canberra, starting from next week! Racing will be full length criteriums up to an hour on the stromlo circuit, alternating weekly between graded and open grade events. Full length racing allows for a more relaxed and safe event. Racing each week starts at 6:30pm, straight after women's C.

In the DBR SuperCrits, dropped riders are allowed to get back onto the back of the bunch so long as they don't influence the race or contest the sprint, so you can challenge yourself against strong riders and still get value for your money.

Be a part of some of the hottest racing action in town!

Calendar until Christmas:

19th Nov - MC/WA and below
26th Nov - Open grade
3rd Dec - MC/WA and below
10th Dec - Open grade
17th Dec - MC/WA and below, followed by a BBQ

Event details:
What: DBR SuperCrit
When: 6:30pm Thursdays. Rego from 6pm

Length: 45 mins - 1 hour plus 3 laps
How much: $10 entry

Simon,

I'll give it a go, sounds like I'll get a good workout. Your post says it alternates between an A & B Grade race and a C and below race. Is it worthwhile us Valhalla E grader's having a go at it or will we (and me especially) just get in the way?

Now we just need paid Criterium Directors and Marshals, and racing on Monday and Friday nights and my dastardly plan will be complete.

5 Days a week of criteriums.

I couldn't think of anything worse! Variety is the spice of life :) but I do like the supercrits

I suspect Peter means that you race once a week, but the categories are spread over 5 nights.

To be honest, I think an E grader would struggle in the bunch. But if we have success with numbers, perhaps in the new year something for the lower grades. I'd see the C grade as for C graders (duh!), the better two thirds of D grade, the lower half of WA and the better half of WB.

A couple of shots from Greg Long (http://greglong.photostockplus.com/) of last year's action:

This one has Jamie in it, so must have in in the first couple of laps:

Snap! At least I don't have cartoon eyebrows Dwyer.

Is it kosher to pos rep someone paying you out?

And note the pain I am inflicting on Tolhurst here, with my massive turn on the front. You can see him barely able to keep on the wheel:

Looks like he's going through his shopping list in his head.

"Eggs, bread, milk, breathing apparatus for Jamie..."

Perhaps you guys are lapping Michael, Adam and Alastair - the casual observer would think it...

That one probably trumps the 2 laps call, eh?

no this is not true.

Crits should be raced by every person at least 5 times a week.

Ok, considering I am probably closer to F grade (if there was one), then I will forget it... It was just an idea. :(

Maybe in the NY, Graeme. You were doing pretty well for most of the race on Wednesday - each week you've just gotta aim to be up there for that bit longer, then soon enough you'll find yourself vying for the final sprint.

I heard a rumour that there was going to be a mens E womens C sooper crit. Is this on the cards? If it isn't could it be put there? Maybe even step up the girls in their last week or 2 of racing and make it longer and invite the slow guys?

Milto, if there is a crew for that I'm happy to organise it on the C-grade and below SuperCrit week. We could either do it in place of WC and start earlier (5.30pm) or have ME/WC race at the same time as C-grade but in separate bunches (like MD/ME on Wednesdays). I'd prefer to do the latter so that WC still have their regular crit.

Having said that, last week ME & WB (and even one WC rider) had no problems hanging on to the C-grade bunch for almost the entire race.

Maybe I will give it a try next week and see how it goes before I hit you up.

Sure. It would be good to have some feedback from the ME/WC Valhallians as well.
