Cycling ACT presents
ACT Hill Climb Championships
(This is a medal race)
Corin
Saturday, 21 November 2009 at 9.00am
The Canberra Cycling Club is pleased to conduct the ACT Hill Climb Championships. The event will be held on the road up to Corin Dam (starting at the intersection of Paddy’s River/Tidbinbilla Road and Corin Rd).
The Hill Climb is an individual time trial event with riders set off at timed intervals. The course distance is approximately 13 kilometres.
Course Map can be found here.
There will be racing for all age groups with medals available for men and women in Elite, various Masters and U19 grades. Juniors will complete an out and back course of approx 9 kilometres from the same starting point with a turn around at Woods Reserve.
Details:
Racing will commence at 9am on Saturday, 21 November 2009.
Registration will open at 8.15am and close just before the race start time. Don’t forget to bring your Times 7 paddle.
Entry is $10 (please bring correct change if possible).
For safety, riders must have a current Cycling Australia licence. Day and general licences can be bought at the time of registration, for details and prices see here.
The scheduled marshals are: Richard Stanton, Miles Prosser and John May. The race director is David Naylor who can be contacted at david.naylor@lawcouncil.asn.au.
Can anyone beat Paul Crake’s time of 29.24 or Michael Matthews’ (U19 men) time of 31.36? But don’t be put off by those times as the times achieved by medal winners in 2007 (on the same course) were between 40 and 50-plus minutes. So there is plenty of scope for all riders. This is also a very good event for Canberra riders thinking of going to the Tour of Bright a fortnight later.
