Contribute to research on bike accidents

Hi everyone,

Please see the attached flier on how to contribute to the collection of research on bike accidents in the ACT and NSW. This is very important because good policy and strategies for cycling safety needs to be based on sound data, so that attention is directed where it is most needed.

What happened?
Where did it happen?
Who was involved?
What are your injuries?

Confidentiality assured. The Pedal Study is a medical research project conducted by The George Institute for International Health and Canberra Hospital. It has been approved by the ACT Health Human Research Ethics Committee and is funded by the NRMA ACT Road Safety Trust.



Sadly I can think of a number of us that could partake... but perhaps with more data about where and why accidents happen then a difference may be made for others in the future.

Speaking of accidents - you know the new foot/cycle path bridge in Commonwealth park? It is a slightly curved bridge made out of rectangular blocks - leaving little wheel sucking gaps capable of felling an experienced Vice President.

Well, as of today all those nasty little narrow gaps have been filled and colour matched to the rest of the bridge deck. Not too soon for ONE, but soon enough for the rest of us.
