Corin Classic
Graded Scratch road race
Saturday, 7 November 2009 at 9:00 am

The Corin Classic makes a return to the Canberra road scene this year. The start is near the Corin Road – Paddys River Road intersection (that’s the road that goes up to Corin Dam). From the start, riders turn left onto on to Paddys River Road and continue past Tidbinbilla and turn at Flints Reserve Crossing. On the way back riders turn left into Discovery Drive before turning at the tracking station. Riders then come back out from the tracking station and turn left on to Paddy’s River Road/Tidbinbilla Road and continue on to the turn around just before the descent into the Point Hut crossing. Riders then return along Tidbinbilla Road and turn left into Corin Road, with the finish at the Corin Recreation Centre, about 10 km from the Corin Road/Tidbinbilla Road intersection. If that is confusing, just get to the start line and listen to the race briefing. The total distance is approx 54 kms. For the 25 km half lap, riders proceed to just before the descent into the Point Hut crossing before returning and heading up to the Corin Recreation Centre. Like the two clubs championships last weekend the Corin Classic is expected to be another good race.

See the ccc website for course maps.

Why the half lap? I know a shorter distance is warranted for the lower grades, but 1/2 is a bit silly and seems to be a common theme. Why not just remove the tracking station bit or something to drop down the k's a little bit rather than halve it?

Mmmm 6 months of track training (no hills)...and extra 7 kilos and a couple of months of bugs up my sleeve.

What the heck, I'll ride it. What's the worst that can happen!

Sparky - i'll jump to B if you ride this - it'll just be like Bright only shorter. I'll even outsprint you before the hill so you can get a feel for what'll happen at Bright.

If i'm a burglar then i should find a new profession....I haven't exactly been dominating the C grade road scene.

Step up Scotty - Dwyer hit up Collarbone and you need practice before Hotham.

Scotty you should sell your bike and get into downhill MTBing. Seems like your thing. A couple of minutes downhill and then a short ride in a car. You wouldn't even have to train just pile on some weight and you will be right.

**** News Flash ****

Rumours are that even I will be making an appearance for this race……and yes I am aware hills are included.

Sparky If I can peddle my 92kgs up those mountains surely you could have a crack????

Guys, I'm really flattered that you want me to do this race so badly but my focus from now til Christmas is all FLAT.

Have fun.

Hey all

I've assumed that no-one is interested in a race bus to this one (even Club Prez thought it was a bit of a big day).

In any case, my broken flu-ridden body needs a bit more recovery time before I go smashing up hills, so no race for me.

But we will have a race bus out to the TT next week.

Cheers
