mmm that's clever animation that makes you a little warm and fuzzy but methinks they are trying to play catch up after losing most of their market to other brands.

This isn't going to take off.

Are there any polar users which are actually happy with their unit in the long run...?

I've heard the price of this new Polar/Look power meter is ~US$4K, can't see to many people having that much spare ca$h laying around - most people don't even spend that much on a complete bike let alone just a part of a bike.

How robust are the pedals? Collarbone Corner on the crit track will give them a good test.

The price that was being quoted for the Metrigear/speedlay version of that powermeter was wayyyyyy cheaper than that. And you get a better pedal to.

If your pedals give you power output, does that mean that you really can speak with them!?

I've had no issues with Polar to be honest, and have two units now all going strong.

hmm while I love the concept of being able to determine left and right power the thought of buying two different products and then being locked into these products keep this functionality seems crazy.

Given the Metricgear kit is ant+ compliant that makes it a clear winner for me. If it can inserted into any pedal and work with any ant+ compliant computer that would be really cool.

Of course, it looks like both are still vapourware so it will be interesting to see how good they really are.

I doubt there are any ant+ display units out there that can handle a sensor like the vector so you'll probably be locked into using the Metricgear unit until a new generation of ant+ devices come out.

Garmin acquires MetriGear

This should make things interesting for Polar and Look.
