Has anyone got a set of rollers they no longer want/need? If not, any suggestions of a good set to buy and where to buy them?

Thanks,

Sam

Hi Sam,

I have been thinking about getting rid of my Minoura Action Mag rollers. They are in good condition, hardly used, kept in my bedroom and has a metal flywheel fabricated instead of the magnetic resistance (feels better). One of my mates in Albury is an engineer and he made it for me on the lathe at Norske Skog.

If you or anyone else is interested I would happily part with them for $300 (rrp $669) . I'll even deliver them to you! (within 50kms of Lyneham :) )

I have no use for them, my workplace privileges me to a fully equipped gym.

For rollers, my advice is

- learn riding them in a doorway so you can have something to hang onto.

- If you have some spare wheels, make a trainer wheel with a Continental or Tacx indoor tyre on it. Normal road tyres separate if you get them too hot. The compound for an indoor tyre stays cool and is purpose made for rollers & ergos. I found you only really need one for the rear wheel.

- Sweat net or a shedload of towels will be required. With little windflow you will sweatup big time.

I can get some photos if you want, atm I am at uni.

Cheers,
Adrian.

Hi Adrian,

$300 is going to be a bit out of my price range unfortunately. Thanks for the offer though!

Try and find someone that has a set of these (specifically T7 one) - if the quality of their clothing is anything to go by I'd be giving their rollers a big miss. :glare:

Does the club still have a set of rollers to hire out? Or was it just bike boxes?

I use these rollers and I know of some other juniors who do. They are OK. They work. They make a little bit on noise and only fold in half unlike some other rollers that fold in three.

They do the job for me. They are the only rollers that I have ever used so I don't know any different!

You are welcome to try mine next time we are at a race and I have them there.

When you pay peanuts Rossco you get monkeys mate. Don't you swear by the 900 pack of disposable tubes from this mob too?

Sam - you can borrow my T7 rollers until a good deal comes up - I may hit you up to grab them back over TDF but failing that you should be right for a solid couple of months before I will be using them again.

I along with several other trackies have these rollers and use them mainly for warmups and warm downs at the track, they are fine and a good price.

Main reason they are used at the track rather than mag type trainers are that very light track tyres would not last 5 minutes one a mag trainer, much easier to just jump on the rollers with your track bike.

Minoura rollers are nice too, probably better, but not for twice the price, hope that helps.

That would be awesome thanks Jamie!
