The 2010 Australian Single Speed Nationals are to be held at Majura Pines, Canberra, over the weekend of 10-12 September. Majura Pines is less than 15km by road from the Canberra CBD (even shorter by bike) and you can virtually see the planes landing at the Canberra airport from the trails. Camping is encouraged at the 2010 Australian Single Speed Nationals; however, bug, dirt and moonlight free accommodation will be available close by.
The 2010 Australian Single Speed Nationals weekend will begin on the Friday evening with an alleycat style event around Canberra, introducing those unfamiliar with the familiar landmarks of our Nation’s Capital. The evening will end with dinner and/or drinks at a pub (TBA).
Saturday morning will see the commencement of the major events of the 2010 Australian Single Speed Nationals; including the hill-climb, vertical challenge and time trial. A social ride will see us at our lunch site beside Lake Burley Griffin where the fun stuff will begin with a series of challenges closely related, or possibly unrelated to cycling; including the traditional 16” crits and Huffy toss. Saturday evening will see us back at the pub with Hancock Basement providing the entertainment for the night. Of course, points will be awarded for ‘pub related’ prowess.
Sunday will be the main event of the 2010 Australian Single Speed Nationals, racing through some of the most revered singletrack on the continent. Be prepared for hard climbs, flowing descents and windy trails!! A BBQ lunch may present that last opportunity to gain those coveted points and presentations will round out the afternoon.
