I am wondering what other people think about 8am start times for Sunday morning races in Winter, I for one would prefer a little later maybe 9am or 9.30, when it is a tad warmer.

Im a big fan of the 1pm starts in winter, last sat CCC race nailed it with the weather.

To be honest I prefer to race early so i've got the rest of the day to get stuff done. Yes it's cold, but it leaves more of the day to build ride credits with the other half and drink beer if the opportunity arises.

Just my humble opinion....

Yeah 1pm is probably a bit too late every weekend. 9/9.30 is a lot better than 8.00am though.

I think the VCC races were either 9 or 10am last winter. This week's race will be the last for the season at the earlier time.

I prefer to race early so i've got the rest of the day to get stuff done, and earn brownie points.

Races in winter start at 10.00am ,it is to cold to start any earlier ,and by 10.00am any fog would have started to lift .
The Race Secretary( Vanessa) is the person to ask about this ,she is listed on the Vikings Cycling Club web site ,it all goes through the committee ,you would are most welcome to attend the meetings with suggestions or email them to the committtee .

On a different note thanks for the encouragement on Sat, can't believe how many pulled out the race, Soft.

Yep Lee is right (can't believe I'm saying that :0) - this is the last club race with an 8am start. In winter club races start at 10am, though from memory by the end of the winter calendar last year we were wanting them to start earlier - might try to alter when we change the times to fit our lovely weather better!

I dunno know about you Vikings, aren't Vikings meant to embrace the cold, but all I hear here is "oh it's too cold to race", "it's too cold to train". Me thinks we need some bags of concrete here. Maybe we can organise a indoor race during some spin class :) :)

Vikings aren't stupid. They buggered off to warmer climates when the temps got cold and grabbed all the hot chicks and grog they could, arriving home in time for Spring and good times all round.

Rain does tend to send this mob scurrying but in general we'll fight through the cold - Friday rides are still being well attended despite the sub zero temps!
