Does anyone know what road closures there will be this weekend?
The CCC website seems to be down and I need to plan weekend riding.

Once again hope it all goes well:D!

The Canberra Tour is an open road event meaning there are no road closures. So you can go ahead and plan your ride however you like. However if you see 50 cyclists barrelling down the road in your general direction I would suggest pulling over :-)

The racing starts after 9 so if you are planning an early morning ride you should be fine, especially if you go in clockwise direction you'll be going against the initial flow, which means you would probably be fine until 10am. A grade don't race until the afternoon.

It would be good if we could have it out there can you bring it or do you want someone to pick it up ?

2 Observations from today's stages:

1) Bossie and Tom did a fantastic job to absolutely dominate the E grade finish - it was great to see Vikings riding as a team, and Bossie must have really learned from all his wheel sucking activities - he really knows what a wheelsucker needs, and he supplied it in spades today - a text book performance.

2) Contrast that to C grade today. Great to see Andrew Lake riding strongly. The GC leader from the CCC received ZERO help from the other CCC guys. I was staggered at how UNHELPFUL they were, there was a break off the front, these CCC guys were riding up the pace line and swinging in at second or third wheel totally disrupting the chase. I think I helped the CCC GC rider more than just about anyone - we are both from the ACT after all. Half way through the second lap I asked one of the CCC guys if he knew which club the yellow jersey was from - thinking that they mustn't have realised. 'CCC' was the proud reply.

Having said that I remember riding a few CTs years ago as a CCC rider and 'finding myself' off the front - and having the breaks stick. Afterwards I was chatting with the other CCC riders - they one and all had basically done everything they sportingly could to help the break stick and it did so because of their help. I didn't see any club spirit in C grade today. I think the C grade leader actually retained his yellow jersey this afternoon because he was the strongest rider today.

Great effort everyone! Don't forget the WC girls putting in the big efforts to control the race with Shridevi and KateW in the lead! I hope they can hold it all together tomorrow! Woot!

Yes, Shridevi looked resplendent in her leaders jersey! Cangrats Shridevi!

Vikings women's C riders unite in your efforts to help Shridevi defend the jersey. Chase down attacks, keep a fair pace happening at the front to deter attacks, try to slow the pace down by NOT helping if Shridevi gets dropped.

Well I have to say as the resident enemy in the ranks with you vikings, a big congratulations to Mark Toyer in D2. What a great weekend of racing that was. I think we fought every hill and every sprint and we ended up with 20 seconds between 1st and 3rd.

Well done to CCC and Jason Parkes for organising such a great event.

I would go on but honestly I'm knackered after all that.

Hey, is Sridevi OK after the WB/WC crash at the top of Uriarra crossing? Looked and sounded nasty! Such a pity to be taken down when in the Yellow jersey.

It was a great event. There was good sportsmanship on display.

However, not wanting take detract from some great riding, I'm a little worried that for many of the lower grades the victory begins with sneaking an advantageous entry past the handicapper. Fair enough if this is your first big race and you're not sure how you're going to go, but beyond that there's a lot more respect to be had in stepping up. I'd hate to our great club get a reputation for the "b" word.

On that front I congratulate Andrew for going into C grade and giving it his all.

Handicappers have looong memories. Savor your first few tour races in the lower grades!

A podium finish usually means you'll NEVER get a start in that grade again (unless of course it's a podium in A grade).

Huge thanks to all the volo's, marshalls and organisers of the Tour. Still amazes me how they pull it all off so smoothly given the logistics involved.

My bike and I aren't currently friends, so i'll see everyone when it starts to get warm again!

Can anyone give an update on how Shridevi is doing?

Well done all who rode. Thanks to all the support out there on course, from fellow Vikings, marshals and other riders. It was an awesomely organised race, even down to the weather!

Recovering well on the couch, partial hip fracture that will heal itself (possibly in two days according to the doctor's certificate?), bit sore and dizzy with a few colourful bumps and a panda eye developing. But luckily no major damage! Big thanks to all organisers, marshalls & riders who were so generous with their TLC.

Great weekend, great atmosphere - well done everybody!!!

Hard luck Shridevi; there was a hush 'round the crowd at Stromlo when Greg Boorer announced your mishap; glad to hear you're okay.
