Hey Andrew,

Can you bring the VCC signs with you please? I will meet you there at 11:45.
CCC need them for the Canberra Tour.

Cheers Mark

Huge turnout for this race, I heard 140 riders!

C grade was a pretty surgy bunch, especially coming back on the first lap from Uriarra. We all stayed as a bunch (must of been about 50 riders!) until the second hill towards Condor where the bunch started to string out. I was cruising along sucking a bit of wheel getting dragged back to the bunch after getting on a bad wheel at the start of the climbing and literally going from mid pack to last. I stayed on this guy's wheel until the last climb about a km from the end of the bitumen. I then went around him and made up a heap of places on my own but was still about 50m shy of the main bunch. Another 500m of hill and I might of been able to bridge. Turnaround and a small group of 4 formed and we in a ragged paceline of sorts and start working together and picked up a few riders as we headed back to the Homestead. Soon a bunch of 20 or so is formed and we are within striking distance of the main bunch. Unfortunately by this time I had buried myself on the way back down the false flat towards Uriarra trying to catch a smaller bunch and had dropped my pooper valve and was off the back solo. It was a tough solo ride for me back up to the Homestead. I could see a Vikings jersery in the distance and was determined to catch him. It took all my remaining strength to do it, finally bridging to Avi just before the Homestead where we both decided 1 lap would do us for the day. There was still a bunch of 15 or so C graders some distance behind us but we'd decided we'd had enough. Respekt to those that kept going!

Disappointed I missed this today, managed to sprain my finger yesterday messing about with the footy and can't grip the bars properly at the moment. A few days with ice should fix it up though.

I'm out - think I'm sick :(

I feel sick now after the race. Hit the wall about 5kms from SFP on the ride back. Soon came good after a VB and snickers bar at the Chapman IGA.

Wow what a turn up 140 riders!!!! I think that is a club record for Canberra.

Well done to Jason, PeterG and others for a well run event.

I bonked on the way home as well - guess a banana at 11:30 is really not enough for lunch, let alone fuel for the ride out, race and ride back! And yes - I should know better.

I think I prefer your tack-ons to ours Stevo. Pierces Ck on the way home was not near as tasty as a snickers and VB.

Massive turnout which was great - the pace in C grade was pretty hot - I tapped out after a lap and a bit.

Big thanks to the marshalls and organisers - great day!

Mate, that's the biggest club race I've ever seen in Canberra! Somehow something really jelled. It is probably many factors, i.e 1)nice weather, 2)Canberra Tour coming up, 3)ACTAS riders attending, 4)Vets race canceled, 5) prize money offered.

I was spruking next Saturday's Kermesse at SDTT - I hope we can get a big roll up for that one.

It was one tough race today, I got dagged from B grade on 4 occasions and chased back on 3 times, the last time going towards Condor I was spat for good. Team up with another rider and apparently we came in 1m20secs down, so not too embarrassing.
