Gaz Rolfe was talking about doing an Easter bonanza of big K rides for those left here - I reckon we tag along to those.

My Sydney friends suggest that in may areas it is normal to start riding at around 5am to avoid the soccer mums. Safe depends on where you are. Russ would give you better advice. I have been told there are a couple of great parks with long bike paths near the city. Never ridden them so it could all be a lie.

I am staying out in Epping with relatives and usually ride along the M2/M7. Where I am there is a wider breakdown/bike lane (it is marked). It is relatively safe although two Christmases ago I unfortunately had to ride past an accident where a truck had entered the breakdown lane killing two cyclists and injuring the third. It was the straights piece of road and you could park a truck in the breakdown land and still have room to ride past. It is just senseless.

Isn't centennial park the ride of choice for CBD'ers?

I'm usually on the North shore when I go up and there's a fair few bunches rolling in the am and a lot of riders doing the climb to Westhead

Startrek I think your French needs some work. I think you want to say "Oui"

Centennial park is ok but gets a bit boring just doing laps. There is also officially a 30kph speed limit but it is not really enforced when it is quiet. Lots of people ride to the north side to west head or church point. Plenty on the southside too from Sutherland.

If you do take the bike just be careful on the roads. I once got stuck crossing the harbour bridge as I couldn't find the bike lane. I wound up taking the eastern distributor at 8am. Bad move but a good workout motivated by lots of car horns.

Is that why you're moving to a Garmin with GPS Milto? I don't know how the fark you rode the Eastern D without someone jumping out with a tyre iron!

Lee, I would have suggested Centennial Park as Milto suggests but it is laps and can get quite congested. An alternative is to drive out to Terry Hills and then ride around Akuna Bay and out to West Head. Good hills and early in the day you will find lots of cyclists. The drive is probably 25 mins out from the city. Let me know if you are interested and I can provide some more details. Unfortunately I am out of town this weekend, otherwise I would have met you (and shown off my new bike that I will whip JY ar*e with in the challenge).

I am going to remain silent on the challenge against Fox despite his baiting. Given current form it's likely the trophy will be heading for a vacation up North this year.
