Hi all,

I have “spammed” your inbox because you are a cyclist I know. As most of you will be aware, I have been doing some coaching/fitting/mechanicals for cyclists over the past few years. The latest step on this pathway was to design my own jersey and shorts. But custom gear requires minimum buys, and as happy as I’d be to just meet the minimum myself, I don’t really need that big a stack of new jerseys. I put a ton of work into making these look good so that people might want to wear them. Yes they plug me as a coach, but 99% of jerseys are advertising something. I’m hoping that some of you will like the look enough to want to buy one.

The plan, as it currently stands, is that I’ll make the minimum off of long-sleeve jerseys. Once that is accomplished (it is only 10, one of the reasons I chose this company) then anyone that wants anything else (short-sleeves, shorts, vest, jacket, skinsuit, etc…) can order them in single unit quantities in that same order.

The company is Champion Systems (www.champ-sys.com).

Over the next few days I hope to have final images of the design up on my website (www.michaelhanslip.com).

In an effort to pique everyone’s interest:

I have drawn up some Haida style art for the jersey, shorts and bandana. The jersey has a large raven on the front and a large orca on the back. The shorts have a small salmon on the right leg and a small sun on the left. The bandana has an eagle on each side. Everything is basically black, with some red touches and the drawings and writing are in red/white/black. The Haida people live on the west coast of Canada and have a striking line-art style of drawing that I have always loved.

A long-sleeve jersey is about 90 bucks. The shorts are about the same. Short-sleeved is about 10 bucks less. The price list is on the champion systems website if you dig deep enough (click on Australia, find the price list, download it, copy and paste it into a new XL spreadsheet because they’ve done something to prevent the numbers from displaying on the one you downloaded, and voila – suffice to say their costs are quite low and I am not planning to make a profit on this; hey I’ll even pay postage for those of you that live elsewhere).
