The ACT Schools Road Cycling Championships is scheduled for Tuesday 16th March 2010.

ACT Schools Road Cycling Championships- mountain bikes, BMX and road bikes can be ridden on the track. Competitive riders and novice/beginners are all welcome

Date: Tuesday 16 March 2010
Time: various depending on the students’ year level, the day will run 9am to 3pm
Venue: Stromlo Forest Park Criterion Course
Licences: Cycling Australia ~ or complete waiver on the day

Road Race and Time Trial will be offered, thus 2 rides for everyone
Races for Primary, Secondary and College students
Venue: Stromlo Forest Park(Stephen Hodge Criterium Circuit)
(All races conducted on closed road circuit)

Primary Program
Registration and numbering 8:30-9:15

Time: Age: Distance:
9:15 U9 (born in 2002 & 2003 or after) 2.4km
9:30 U11 (born in 2000 and 2001) 3.6km
9:50 U13 (born in 1998 & 1999) 4.8km

Time Trials begin at approximately 10:15 with the youngest age group starting first. Time Trial distance is one circuit 1.2km

Secondary and College Program
Registration and numbering 11:15am

11:45 U15 Girls (born in 1996 & 1997) 7.2K
12:10 U15 Boys (born in 1996 & 1997) 8.4K
12:30 U17 Girls (born in 1994 & 1995) 9.6K
12:50 U17 Boys (born in 1994 & 1995) 12K
1:15 U19 Men and Women (born in 1992 & 1993) 13.2K

Time Trial for Secondary and Colleges to start at the completion of the last race, distance for all is one circuit (1.2km)

Registration: Students will need to register through their schools and must have a school representative or parent at the event on the day. All students will need the waiver form signed by a parent or guardian and all students who are not Cycling Australia license holders must fill out the Cycling Australia form which will provide the student with a 1 day license. Both forms must be signed by a parent/guardian and be brought to the event on the day.

Cost: $12.00 for Secondary and College students, $8.00 for Primary students. For all students who have a Cycling Australia license the cost is $6.00. This will include students who are involved in JC’s. Cheques are to be made payable to ACT Cycling. Or just pay in cash on the day

Canteen: A Canteen will operate on the day
First Aid: There will be a First Aid Officer in attendance at this event

Rules:
1. Competitors require a racing number during the competition; these will be issued when registering on the day.
2. A standard approved helmet must be worn at all times when riding, in and out of competition.
3. Bicycles must be in a safe and road worthy condition and brakes must function effectively.
4. Appropriate behaviour and goodwill to all is expected throughout competition. The organiser reserves the right to alter the event to suit entries, weather, safety requirements etc where required.
5. Triathlon bars and time trials bars are not allowed for this event. If competitors have these bikes they will be instructed not to use the bars for this event.
6. Students may use any roadworthy bike for this event.
7. Students need to be ready and warmed up 15 minutes before their scheduled race time
8. Competitors must present a signed copy of the ‘entry conditions – parent waiver for riders’ form at time of registration.

Bugger - that will certainly reduce the number of our reps given all you younguns seem to have made excellent times & will be heading sth for nationals :)

Maybe that's a hidden blessing in the bigger picture? They absence of our stars might give some as yet unknown riders a chance to shine and perhaps they'll become hooked on the sport!

True, also good for new NTID recruits.
We (already cyclists) were looking forward to just ACT Junior Crit! We miss out on having ACT Junior Champs as we mix ours in with the DBR Junior and Women's Tour and we don't race junior crit grades.

It will be harder to get numbers if the main cyclists are away. Last year Kate, Sam and I all brought about ten friends each. Grammar kids are on camp the week of the Champs.

I urgently need a extra small road bike to buy for one of my sons ,i am looking for a 43 cm with 700 wheels .
